Successful quest for a mission and how to accomplish it

Djapo introduced itself to us as a non-profit organisation which promotes sustainable development in education. The organisation's complex history made it unable to see clearly what it had to do why and for whom. 

After an extensive deep dive, we managed to uncover what was holding Djapo back: the friction between its genesis and how its operation had evolved in practice. It was time to let go of what no longer was and to embrace what needed to be.

During a series of strategic working sessions, Shaved Monkey managed to sharply articulate where Djapo's path lies today. We reformulated the mission and provided a new compass for its implementation. We outlined the short- and long-term implications for operations and drew up a communication plan to get the future story told.

Rebranding

The question for rebranding that could reinforce Djapo's renewed mission quickly followed. Shaved Monkey generated a new, rich visual identity, crafted a powerful tagline (“Young thinkers. Big doers.”) and wrote a compelling narrative to help Djapo fulfil its ambitions.

Subsequently, we handed the baton to our friends at Statik. They used all these elements to build a brand-new, fresh website and a platform for digital didactics. Throughout this process, the end-user was consistently prioritised, making Djapo more accessible to teachers, researchers and education specialists as a brand.

Innovative projects

Today we support Djapo in developing their offerings and organising webinars. For both "Eye in Eye" - an educational project on animal welfare - and "I See What You Don't See" - an educational programme on waste and materials management - we created the teaching materials, the campaign concept, the communication strategy and the launch campaign. Statik in turn provided the ready-made learning platforms for the teaching packages.

We guided Djapo through a webinar bootcamp (together with An Jordens) in which we taught them the tricks of the trade in terms of storytelling, webinar formats and presentation techniques. Our campaign attracted an average of 150 registrations per webinar. The success of these projects is confirmation to Shaved Monkey and Statik that they have found in each other the dream partner to roll out Djapo's mission into tangible projects that make a real difference to the target audience.

A new direction

Although it is never easy to redefine the mission of an organisation, we managed to get all noses pointing in the same direction. Djapo was able to take on their renewed pioneering role in the education field with full confidence and soon with a corporate identity fully in line with their mission. Together, we also translated Djapo's vision into successful campaigns with strong impact and digital tools more tailored than ever to their target audience.
